Tibetan Terriers are not true terriers as we know them, the word “terrier” was attached to them by early travellers from the West, when they caught the first glimpses of these dogs. The TT is a medium sized, sturdy, compact, generally square dog of 14″ – 16″ at the shoulder. He has a long thick double coat that requires grooming even when clipped off.
The typical TT is an individualist with a marked awareness of his own identity and importance in the world. Blessed with a highly developed sense of humour he is also perceptive, astute, resilient and often strong willed.
Alert and companionable, his many faceted personality is a force to be reckoned with. A TT by nature, is a happy and outgoing soul with a zest for life and he will want to play his part in all the family activities.
A Tibetan Terrier is very trainable provided he can see some point in what he is being asked to do.
